How Far Along: 32 Weeks
Size of Baby: He weighs about 3.75 lbs this week (the weight of a jicama-what in the world is this???) and is about 16.7 inches long. I would venture to say he is a bit smaller than these measurements, but as long as he is growing that is all that matters.
Maternity Clothes: All maternity and I have now moved on to wearing Logan's t-shirts, which he so nicely tells me make me look largely pregnant lol! He knows how to make me feel great ;).
Weight Gain: Once again I didn't really look again this week-I do know that I am supposed to be gaining about a pound a week and LB should be packing on about a 1/2 pound a week from now until his debut.
Belly: 32 week picture:
Stretch Marks: I had a heart attack earlier this week when I suspected two spots, but I think they were from my shirt! Now that I can't see the bottom of my belly, I have to use a hand held mirror to do the inspections or ask Logan...who I think would lie to me even if I have them lol =). Better stick to the mirror!
Sleep: I am convinced it will be a LONG time until I am able to sleep through the night again...not that I did that a bunch anyway before being pregnant...
Best Moment of the Week: Getting my camera for Christmas from Logan! It has now provided me a new bed rest activity to learn about it before Landon arrives so I am a "professional" picture taker!
Movement: It has started to slow down a bit...I think he is running out of room! My books tell me the amniotic fluid is at a max this week, so the movements that I do feel will be strong since there is more baby than fluid to pad the kick boxing type blows. As he grows the movement should begin to slow down. Also, he is sleeping about 90% of the day and is only awake for 15-20 minute periods now.
Symptoms: Constantly feel like I can't breath, frequent trips to pee (this is annoying, especially at night), and more pressure from him...I think he is on the move towards the way out.
Food Cravings: Fruit and chocolate! Both sugary...a far cry from my constant salty french fry days of first trimester.
Gender: Boy-Landon!
What I Miss: Not feeling like a ticking time bomb-the stress is beginning to get to me.
What I'm Looking Forward to: We start baby classes this week! Breast feeding and newborn care this week, and a crash course in birthing on the 14th.
Nursery: Almost daily I feel like we get small little things delivered that I have ordered with gift cards we received from the shower. Three little bottles showed up a few days ago and I wondered where to put them...Logan pointed out a few days ago we need to make room in the kitchen for stuff like that, which I hadn't even thought about. Then we both had a minor freak out moment ha ha....those seem to be happening more often, which my midwife said are expected and normal! This little man seems to be taking over the house and he isn't even here yet! As soon as the Christmas stuff comes down this weekend, we will be officially setting up the rest of the house for his arrival. His little room is over run with stuff waiting to be put in place when the time is right...now to convince the cats that all his things are not comfy beds for them!
See...Sadie in the pack n play:
Weekly Wisdom: Bed rest is a short time in my life and will be worth it all in the end.
Milestones: Met our big goal of 32 weeks! Survival of babies born at this point is 97% and the long term lasting effects of a premature birth drops to about 15%. So a HUGE milestone today. If he is born at this point, he would still be in the NICU but most likely as only a feeder/grower (The terms that they use make them sound like little farm animals haha)!
Emotions: Mentally, emotionally, and physically worn out. All the contractions are actually starting to change things, so that was a bit discouraging this week at the appointment. The midwife didn't seem concerned, so I am trying to remain optimistic. She still thinks he will make his big arrival between 36-37 weeks-so almost full term. What's scary is that's in 4-5 weeks! Next appointment is January 11th-so in about 2 weeks. Then they become weekly. Only 3-4 more weeks of bed rest and as of today little Landon is 80% cooked!!

31 Weeks!
How Far Along: 31 Weeks
Size of Baby: He should weigh around 3.3 lbs and is about 16 inches long! This is about the weight of 4 navel oranges (says the baby bump app ha ha).
Picture of Baby: We decided not to do one of these so we will all have to be patient to see his cute little face in hopefully no less than 6 weeks!
Maternity Clothes: All maternity-I need to order another pair of jeans, mine are becoming uncomfortable! Darn holidays....
Weight Gain: I didn't look at todays appointment, but my guess is around 25 lbs total.
Belly: 31 Weeks-took this cute picture when everyone was in town! It was our attempt at an idea I saw on pinterest!
Stretch Marks: I have some places I am watching!
Sleep: Better this week. I have been extra tire the past few nights so I have been falling asleep alot earlier, but still up several times during the night to pee and of course roll over every few hours!
Best Moment of the Week: Having my parents and Rere see my belly! Its hard living away from family and going through most of the pregnancy without them! Logan also has been fascinated by watching him move. Last night he said he never realized you can see the baby move, he just thought you can feel him. Landon gets called an alien almost daily lol...
Movement: Constantly! At the doctor today she said she couldn't feel his head anymore and thought he might have flipped to breach! Thank goodness after some more feeling she said he is still head down! That is not something else I need to worry about!
Symptoms: More tired, running out of breath easily, and the usuals.
Food Cravings: Nothing really this week, I guess if anything grapes.
Gender: Boy-Landon!
What I Miss: Being able to get out of the house without approved Dr.'s visits.
What I'm Looking Forward to: Christmas and our next goal of 32 weeks!
Nursery: Everything is pretty much ready to go! Mom and Rere finished every thing up. Here are a few pictures:
Weekly Wisdom: The more I worry about contractions, the more that I seem to get. Staying occupied is key.
Milestones: Almost to our goal of 32 weeks!
Emotions: Happy to get to this point, but beginning to feel a wee bit terrified of what's to come!

30 Weeks!
How Far Along: 30 Weeks
Size of Baby: He is almost 3 lbs this week, the weight of a head of cabbage and 15.75 inches long, according to one of my phone apps!
Picture of Baby: None yet-still deciding what to do for the ultrasound!
Maternity Clothes: Still a mix of maternity for regular clothes and old clothes for comfys. I did have to go to the bottom of my t-shirt stalk to find the ones that I always thought were too big =).
Weight Gain: I would guess a few pounds up from last week since we haven't been eating as well now that Logan is back to work and doesn't like to cook when he gets home! Plus holiday cookies probably made for a bit more than anticipated!
Belly: 30 Weeks
I will post one of these in another post that will hopefully have some pictures of the baby shower!
Stretch Marks: None yet!
Sleep: Extra crappy the past week since I have been sick! So between peeing, turning over every hour, and a super stuffy nose its not fun!
Best Moment of the Week: Getting another negative FFN test, hopefully that means Mr. Landon will stay put until at least 32 weeks. We also got the glider delivered!! It looks great and just completes the room. Now to finish up the final decorations when my Mom gets in town tomorrow!
Movement: I think the little man is running out of room! Instead of distinct kicks I feel more sliding motions. He still moves and apparently has flipped sides in the last week, but I think just tonight he is sitting back on the right because he is kicking back on that side.
Symptoms: BACK PAIN, hip pain, stretching/cramping feeling....apparently all normal per my million questions to the midwife today =).
Food Cravings: Mostly french fries, fruit, and cinnamon gum this week-trying to lay off the eggnog.
Gender: Boy-Landon!
What I Miss: Not having to constantly worry about preterm labor, if he is growing, if he is moving enough, etc. I doubt that feeling is going away anytime in the rest of my life lol.
What I'm Looking Forward to: Mom and Dad's visit, baby shower, and graduation!
Nursery: The glider came in and its great! I am glad I put a blanket over it because Sadie has adopted it as her new all day sleeping spot!
Weekly Wisdom: Try to stay relaxed because worrying just puts more stress on him!
Milestones: Hitting 30 weeks! Yay maybe the 30's will be less stressful than the 20's!
Emotions: Thankful that he is still in there cooking and hoping he will just stay in for another 7 weeks so he is considered full term.

29 Weeks
How Far Along: 29 Weeks
Size of Baby: He is about 2.5 lbs this week and 15.25 inches long, according to one of my phone apps, he is the size of a butternut squash!
Picture of Baby: No more of these unless we decide to have an elective ultrasound here in the next few weeks! I am still trying to decide if I want this as a Christmas present or if we just want to be surprised who he looks like when he comes out! I am still prepared for a mini Logan lol...
Maternity Clothes: All maternity for real clothes, mostly regulars for comfys on a daily basis though. My maternity jeans are getting tight in the belly, I guess that is a good sign that Landon (weird right?) is growing!
Weight Gain: Sitting at about 21 lbs gained-I accidentally saw the scale today at my appointment lol! Not too bad for 5 weeks of bed rest where I feel like I constantly snack.
Belly: 29 Weeks
The doctor says Landon is right on track for growth and she is VERY pleased with my belly measurements. Said his heart beat is strong and can tell he is a constant mover-which he is!
Stretch Marks: None yet! I am worried they are coming with the rapid belly growth! It is supposed to grow about 1 cm a week.
Sleep: Hit or miss this week as usual...my hips burn some nights and others not so much...its very strange. I am going to attribute the hip pain to Landon being in the head down position according to my midwife today!
Best Moment of the Week: Hearing that Landon is growing extremely well and has a very strong heart beat!
Movement: Constantly the past week. Now that I think he is officially head down, I feel his feet up by my ribs on the right side, his rolling movements in my mid belly, and his little hands down by my left hip! Also in the past few weeks he gets hiccups a few times a day which feel like little movements but very rhythmic, its pretty funny! He usually gets them right as we are going to bed at night and I am reading.
Symptoms: The usual stretching ligament pain in my belly, back ache, and the hip pain!
Food Cravings: French fries, egg nog, fruit, and cinnamon gum...could be worse right lol? Logan does amazing with helping with all cravings!
Gender: Boy-Landon!
What I Miss: Constantly sleeping through the night-I feel like a rotisserie chicken being turned on a spike with having to turn over every single hour. Also, not feeling like a ticking time bomb-it's rather stressful.
What I'm Looking Forward to: My Mom and Dad coming next week, my baby shower from the Curves ladies, and graduation! Let's hope Landon feels like staying put, its a rather busy week!
Nursery: I put together a little photo board with the baby shower invites, ultrasound pictures, and a few pictures of when Logan and I were babies to see who he looks like once he is here. When my Mom gets in town she will help me get some stuff set up especially after the baby shower =). Plus I think clothes washing will start also!!
Weekly Wisdom: Just be thankful for everyday that he is in there....
Milestones: Another week down! The midwife has set us a goal of 34 week. She estimates he will come between 34-36 weeks.
Emotions: Overwhelmed with the fact that we will most likely have a January baby vs. a February one!

The name post!
So we wanted you all to be the first to know that we are excited to welcome
Landon John Brokaw
to our family this winter!
28 Weeks!
How Far Along? 28 weeks!
Maternity Clothes?Yep pretty much all maternity except for comfy clothes...
Weight Gain? Not sure this week...I think everything is expanding from all the sitting and laying!
Stretch Marks? None yet but I just asked Logan the other day if one was and he assured me it was a line from my shirt ha ha. I have however started noticing little spider veins on my stomach...I can handle those if they promise to go away after delivery and don't get any larger!
Sleep? Besides having to turn over every hour, getting up to pee, and the weird dreams its okay ha ha....
Best Moment of the Week? LB flipped over again in the past few days and since then we have started seeing distinct movements from him...I am guessing his feet and knees are what we are seeing! Logan thinks it's pretty funny and is convinced an alien is going to burst out of my stomach lol...typical Logan thoughts. =)
Movement? Alot more now that he has flipped over again. He is still in the head down position, but he feels like he has at least moved up a bit now that I am getting some nice kicks to the ribs!
Gender? Boy! I will do a name post later today I hope!
What I miss? Helping decorate for Christmas! Between Donna and Logan the house is looking very Christmas like! I am thankful for all of their help especially with us staying here this year for Christmas, it just had to be decorated!!
What I'm looking forward to? Hitting our next major milestone of 30 weeks! So keep baking LB.
Weekly Wisdom: Take everything one day at a time...I find it becomes overwhelming thinking about all the stuff I need or want to be doing but can't!
Milestones: 28 weeks! This is a huge milestone for the health of LB. If he was born within this week, his chances of survival is around 85% and the chance of lasting health problems drops from 50% to 35%. Obviously, we want him to get to full term, but if he does come before that at least the worry has dropped significantly on how he would do!
Stay tuned for a name post and 28 week belly picture =)

Symptoms:Achy hips at night, almost feels like my legs are burning-it hurts. The chiropractor tells me everything is starting to spread for preparation of delivery! Also, problems breathing at night seems to be a new symptom-sometimes I wake up gasping for air so that is a weird feeling too.

27 Weeks!
How Far Along? 27 weeks!
Maternity Clothes? A mix of maternity and regular comfy pants...however I am sure those will not be fitting soon. I think I will just switch to Logan's pants soon!
Weight Gain? I am not sure how much I have gained--the doctor never says anything! So I am assuming when I gain too much they will let me know lol...the continually tell me how tiny I am so that makes me feel nice ha ha (unless they say that to every pregnant woman to make them feel better lol)
Stretch Marks? Not yet-but LB has been on a huge growth spurt so I am a bit nervous they will come soon!
Sleep? Better the past few nights...but now that I said that I won't sleep again for weeks.
Best Moment of the Week? Hearing that the doctor was pleased so far with the progress of everything! She said that if I make it to 30 weeks with no change, that she will lift my bed rest restrictions! I probably won't return to work, but at least I will feel like I can get prepared for LB!
Movement? Yep...started kick counts this past week. He is a quite the mover.
Gender? Boy! Logan has one week until the name deadline!
What I miss? Being able to cook, especially with Thanksgiving and Christmas coming up!
What I'm looking forward to? Getting out of the 20s and into the 30s!
Weekly Wisdom: Take one day at a time!
Milestones: Third trimester!!! Woo hoo...

Emotions: A bit overwhelmed but happy he is still baking!
Hope everyone has a Happy Thanksgiving! Wishing we were home in Colorado, but we are doing what is best for this little guy!
Will update a picture later for 27 weeks after I get dressed for the day!

26 Weeks
How Far Along? 26 weeks!
Maternity Clothes? Mostly maternity and some old comfy clothes....now that I don't ever get dressed in real clothes!
Weight Gain? I am sure I have gained some being on bed rest!
Stretch Marks? Not yet!
Sleep? Very hit or miss...I would like to sleep more than 2 hour stretches without having to turn over or get up to go to the bathroom. I think I will be nicely adjusted when it comes to having to wake up to feed LB.
Best Moment of the Week? Logan kissing my belly and talking to LB...he likes to try to hear his heartbeat, but instead gets kicked usually when putting his head on my belly! Also...Logan now takes daily pictures of my belly button....odd right, but not totally unexpected from Logan lol.
Movement? Yep...some of them are actually starting to hurt!
Gender? Boy! Logan has been given a December 1st deadline to decide on a name! I have things I need to order with his name that take about 6-8 weeks to get in, so thus the deadline for my most indecisive husband =). So once we get to that date (about two weeks) we will announce it!
What I miss? Working and being able to help Logan around the house....I just keep telling myself its for a good cause!
What I'm looking forward to? Third trimester and getting the glider delivered in the next few weeks!
Weekly Wisdom: Be appreciative for everyday LB stays in there baking and that so far all my checks have been positive and all is holding steady!
Milestones: Another week down!

25 weeks
How Far Along? 25 weeks!
Maternity Clothes? Yep.
Weight Gain? Still up there, although at my appointment yesterday Logan says I actually lost some from my last appointment.
Stretch Marks? Not yet!
Sleep? Like crap.
Best Moment of the Week? Hearing that LB is on track with his growth....there were alot more down moments to this past week though.
Movement? Yep daily. Still has his quiet days, but overall he moves and kicks me constantly, especially at night....which perhaps is why sleeping between 2-4 am is impossible.
Gender? Boy!
What I miss? Not having constant back pain....which is saying alot considering my back has given me problems consistently over the past 10 years and good sleep...which once again is all related.
What I'm looking forward to? Keeping LB baking as long as possible....
Weekly Wisdom: Focus on daily goals....
Milestones: Just another week down...at this point I am looking towards short term goals.

Emotions: Scared and worried.
Ok now for the LONG story. This past week has been extra eventful for LB and myself. I can't explain how happy I am to one still be cooking LB and having Logan home from his deployment so I didn't have to go through all of it alone. All last week, I was just not feeling that great. I had the constant achy belly, back, and some what I thought were Braxton Hick's contractions. Well fast forward to Saturday. I agreed to go to the mall to get some lunch and Logan his new video game since he was going stir crazy at home even though I wasn't feeling great. Once we got to the mall I noticed the contractions picked up and I just thought something was off. I told Logan I think we needed to head home so I could lay down and drink a bunch of water. After a few hours and loads of water later I still felt the contractions and decided to call L&D to see what they thought. After a quick phone call, Logan and I headed to Vanderbilt so I could be monitored and get looked at. We got there are 430 and got all hooked up to the contraction monitor. It was obvious I was having some irritability, but at that point nothing huge on the monitor. They did some exams and a test to determine if I would go into labor in the next two weeks...after that things started to pick up on the monitors. I began having timeable contractions that I could actually feel and see. The midwife and nurse came in several times to ask about if they hurt or more just uncomfortable, which they were just uncomfortable....but nerve wracking none the less. They sent me down to ultrasound to make sure LB was growing well and nothing had popped up since our anatomy scan and to take a few measurements of my 'awesome' cervix. After coming back up I was hooked back up to the monitor to see how the contractions were doing since I had been given an entire bag of IV fluids to help hydrate me...apparently they start with this and then move on to medicine to help control contractions if needed. They monitored me for another 30 minutes and the contractions had lessened in intensity and slowed down greatly. It mostly looked like what I had come in with originally. The new doctor came in to visit (shift change) and informed me modified bed rest was going to be my new norm and that my cervix was shorter and softer than what it should be at this point. He cleared me to go to work and still go to CO, however....both of those ideas still made me nervous. He also said we would be scheduled for a follow up at the clinic later this week.
So fast forward to Wednesday when I had my follow up appointment with the new midwife. We now have a plan put in place to take the precautions necessary and hopefully keep LB baking as long as my body and he is willing to stay in! I received my first round of steroid shots to develop his lungs just in case he is born sooner rather than later. I go back today (Thursday) to get the second shot. I also was given a prescription for progesterone to help control preterm labor....at least there is evidence that it helps. I guess its not commonly practiced at Vanderbilt, but the practice where my midwife came from used to prescribe it to patients similar to me all the time and she felt comfortable if I wanted it. I figure whatever I can do to help keep him in, the better....even if there is evidence saying it has no benefits. I also will be monitored every two weeks to make sure my cervix is staying shut and at least holding steady. If it continues to change even with modified bed rest, then we will take more aggressive action...such as strict bed rest. As of yesterday, there was no cervical change. Still holding steady around 2.5 cm and soft, but not opening and still far back which she said were both great signs.
All of this leads up to no more work and no going to Colorado, which Logan and I are both completely bummed about. However, as Mallory pointed out this is just the first step in parenthood, where we put LB's health over our wants and needs and will do anything to keep him safe.
It has been an exhausting last 5 days. Logan is filling my prescription today on post, we are hoping to avoid paying $250 out of pocket a month for this...but if we need to it has to be done. I will start the progesterone tonight and I am hoping it makes a difference! Just keep our little growing family in your thoughts and prayers, we could use a few extra the rest of our pregnancy!

24 weeks=6 months!
How Far Along? 24 weeks!
Maternity Clothes? Mostly maternity...my new concern is how much longer this stuff is going to fit and then what do I wear when I am huge? I am going with Logan's clothes lol =).
Weight Gain? Up a total of 18 lbs....doc says I am on track for my size. I don't think I have ever weighed this much in my life...its a bit shocking lol. Logan just keeps reminding me that I am growing a baby and it's all for a good cause.
Stretch Marks? Not yet!
Sleep? Hit or miss...I think LB is going to be born addicted to tylenol PM. Between my back and not being able to sleep this seems to be a nightly thing...
Best Moment of the Week? There hasn't been one that is sticking out in my mind....
Movement? Yep-I feel him daily! His kicks are getting stronger. The doctor told me wherever I feel it usually means its his feet...so that means he must flip around alot because I feel it in several different places.
Gender? Boy!
What I miss? Good sleep.
What I'm looking forward to? Getting my new maternity clothes and having Logan see LB's room.
Weekly Wisdom: Drinking less at night=less trips to pee and less interrupted sleep!
Milestones: 24 weeks which means a good chance for viability! Huge relief to make it to this point in the pregnancy!

Symptoms: New symptom this week-BACK PAIN! It helped to go to the chiropractor, but this has been a bad week for my back. I think everything is beginning to separate and move apart!

23 Weeks
How Far Along? 23 weeks!
Maternity Clothes? Yep....still a mix. I am thinking I need to get a few more pairs of pants thought...
Weight Gain? Will find out on Monday...guessing its not on the lower side lol.
Stretch Marks? Not yet!
Sleep? Better this week, but I don't sleep for longer than a few hours at a time since I have to flip over because my back/hips hurt (I sound like I am 70). It also doesn't help that LB has a party in my stomach every night between 10-11 so I lay awake feeling him kick until he must finally fall back asleep!
Best Moment of the Week? I think people actually realizing that I am pregnant....vs. just fat! One group of students this week just apparently NOW found out I was pregnant. I asked them if it was hot in the room or just me because I was pregnant. They responded with, WHAT YOU'RE PREGNANT! I asked them if they just thought I had one too many bags of cheetos (which is also possible ha ha) and just getting fat-they all said they weren't going to ask and risk hurting my feelings lol...typical male students.
Movement? Yep...he has been pretty active this past week! I love it that I know I have a reassurance that he is ok in there!
Gender? Boy!
What I miss? Sleeping and not constantly feeling like I have to pee!
What I'm looking forward to? Hitting the 24 week mark! Viability week! Also my appointment on the 31st. Just a check up, but curious to ask the doctor a few questions and possible see about scheduling my future appointments with a different doctor. I am not 100% pleased with the one I have been seeing.
Weekly Wisdom: Try to enjoy a day of feeling good, because the next day I could feel like crap lol....
Milestones: 17 weeks left!

Emotions: Pretty normal...I have found my patience level with students is getting less. I think being tired and having an aching back makes it hard to always be a nice teacher =). Overall, still doing well. Ready for Logan to come home though!
Here is the 23 week belly shot:
Logan pointed out that its getting pointy haha...it does look rather pointy. I think its his butt/back that makes it like that! I can feel something hard when I poke at him lol....

22 Week belly!
Figured I needed to get on the ball with these weekly pictures since its actually becoming noticeably larger....however I still get the comments of you are so tiny! We will see how much he grew in the past 4 weeks at my doctors appointment on the 31st!

22 weeks
How Far Along? 22 weeks!
Maternity Clothes? Yep...tops are still mostly fitting, but pants no way they would fit! I also ordered a maternity coat this week since my pea-coat, northface, and AE winter jacket don't zip or button anymore!
Weight Gain? I honestly haven't weighed myself lately....my new theory is I will gain what I gain. I try to get a nice balance of all food groups during the day and I don't over indulge in sweets or carbs...so not much else I can do besides eat less!
Stretch Marks? Not so far, but my stomach has doubled in size so I am watching closely lol.
Sleep? Overall crappy...I am not sure if this is linked to Logan being gone or the fact that I can't lay on one side for longer than a few hours.
Best Moment of the Week? I suppose getting lots of little things for LB's room! This week I got a cute little baseball nightlight and a Scentsy warmer with a newborn scent! Super excited for this one! Logan already thinks I am going overboard...he has no idea what he started by saying "I would prefer a baseball theme."
Movement? Yep. A little less the past few days, I am guessing he is going through a growth spurt and sleeping more (at least from what I have read =)).
Gender? Boy!
What I miss? Not having some feeling of pain lol....
What I'm looking forward to? My next appointment in about 1.5 weeks and getting the glider in December!
Weekly Wisdom: Try to relax because come February I doubt there will be much of that!
Milestones: Ummmm....half way through second trimester? Crazy!

Emotions:Holding steady....its hard with Logan gone but so far I have done ALOT better than I thought. It also helps that Logan tries to call or at least message me daily so I know he is safe =). He knows I worry about him!
Last but not least here is a picture from last weekend (21.5) weeks with my Mom at the pumpkin patch!

21 Weeks!
How Far Along? 21 weeks!
Maternity Clothes? Yep...I think I have enough now that I should be set unless I get unexpectedly huge lol!
Weight Gain? Still around 12 pounds...however could be more since my Mom is here and always having us eat sweets!
Stretch Marks? Not so far! After realizing my skin is more like my Mom's than I thought, I am hoping I follow suit like her, my aunts, and my Grandma (who had 12 babies) and not get any stretch marks! However, I am still lotioning, oiling, and drinking TONS of water to aid on the side of genetics lol =)
Sleep? Very hit or miss....sometimes its ok, others not at all good. I am hoping to go back to sleeping well!
Best Moment of the Week? Feeling him kick on the outside! I SOOOO wish Logan was here to be able to feel him. Plus more consistent movement this week! We have also been busy putting LB's room together! My Mom and I painted, put up chair rail, and put the crib together! I found several baseball decorations and only have a few more things to order!!
Movement? Yes much more consistent the past week! Its fun, but still slightly creepy! I can imagine this will be yet another thing to worry about if I get used to him moving! I do notice he tends to move at specific times of the day, particularly in the morning when I get up and in the evening sitting on the couch.
Gender? Boy!
What I miss? Logan...I am ready to have him home with me!
What I'm looking forward to? Actually settling on a name for LB!
Weekly Wisdom: Drink water and just stay busy...helps the pregnancy time go faster, as well as deployment time!
Milestones: Getting LB's room put together!

20 WEEKS=HALF WAY YAY!!
How Far Along? 20 weeks!
Maternity Clothes? Pretty much all the time
Weight Gain? I am up to around 12 lbs!
Stretch Marks? Nope....still using lotion/oil =).
Sleep? Better-I got a nice body pillow and now that Logan is gone I have his side to sleep on too lol.
Best Moment of the Week? People actually being able to tell that I am pregnant and the kids asking questions about it!
Movement? I apparently have an anterior placenta, meaning it sits between my stomach and the baby-so he has to kick through that for me to feel it! I can feel some kicks, but nothing consistent!
Gender? Boy!
What I miss? New fall clothes!
What I'm looking forward to? Being able to countdown in the other direction =)
Weekly Wisdom: Try not to stress over things I can't control...Logan's saying.
Milestones: Hitting the half way point of the pregnancy!

Symptoms: More stretching and growing this week I think-I have been sore all along the bottom of my belly from the growing! Also, my belly button is on the verge of becoming an outie! Guess its time to take my belly ring out, I think that is what's holding it in ha ha. Back pain this week also-it might be time to go to the chiropractor once a week!
What I'm looking forward to? Being able to countdown in the other direction =)
Weekly Wisdom: Try not to stress over things I can't control...Logan's saying.
Milestones: Hitting the half way point of the pregnancy!

Maternity Clothes? Wearing these more and more...they are just so much more comfortable.
Weight Gain? I am up to around 10 lbs...not great, not horrible I suppose!
Stretch Marks? Nope....still using lotion/oil =).
Sleep? Crappy this week. I wake up usually two times a night to pee and after that I have so much on my mind I can't sleep for another hour...
Best Moment of the Week? All the kids at the high school asking me if I am pregnant ha ha...apparently the rumor mill is in full swing in the chemistry classes.
Movement? Definitely felt some kicks the other night, but nothing consistent!
Gender? 100% boy...see the pictures below!
What I miss? Just generally feeling normal ha ha...there is always something pregnancy related that I feel!
What I'm looking forward to? Hitting 20 weeks!
Weekly Wisdom: Water, water, water....
Milestones: Having our anatomy scan and finding out everything is great with the little one! Also this week all the furniture was moved from the office to the guest bedroom and the nursery furniture is in place. In a few weeks when my Mom comes to visit we will be painting and putting up the crib! Lots of fun exciting things in the near future =).

18.5 week Anatomy Scan
Today we had our anatomy scan! Meaning the tech viewed all of the parts of LB and made sure he was healthy, growing, and most important (for Logan anyway) still a boy! Everything looks great the tech said from what she could tell. She said the images will all go to the radiologist and if there is a problem we will find out before my appointment next week. I have attached some of the less creepy pictures that we received from our scan today! He is definitely of the Brokaw blood line with his upper lip, however we still think he has my nose! Enjoy, these are the last pictures we will get of this little man until he is born! 21 more weeks! =).
Last but not least....here is the 18.5 week belly shot!
![]() |
Arms and hands!

Profile shot! See my nose =) I think he has his tongue out....not sure!

I think he looks like an angry old man lol! Rest assured, he also does not have nubs for arms lol...just a poor picture with 3D/4D!
Slowly growing!

Belly 17.5 Weeks
Wednesday, September 14, 2011
17 weeks!
How Far Along? 17 weeks!
Maternity Clothes? Moving towards all maternity pants...I still can wear a few pairs of work pants with the button undone, however I found that the zipper is also needing to be undone....so I feel in the next few weeks that it will be all maternity!
Weight Gain? Once again...tried to eat healthier. Didn't weigh myself ha ha.
Stretch Marks? Nope! Check daily though =).
Sleep? Crappy due to Rusty having allergies and itching all night! Hopefully with his new meds he will be less itchy and not keep me up all night =/.
Best Moment of the Week? Another sixth grade teacher saying, look at that cute baby bump you keep hidden all day when I wore a maternity shirt to work this week!
Movement? I think I feel him about once a day...but again it could just be me imagining things! It feels ticklish and very strange! I was feeling my stomach the other night and felt a weird hard spot for a few seconds and kept pushing on it and it eventually moved, I am guessing it was him! Probably annoyed I was pushing on him.
Gender? BOY!
What I miss? Wine lol...it has been a long few weeks and I could use a glass!
What I'm looking forward to? Feeling consistent movement and knowing its him.
Weekly Wisdom: Continue to sleep early and drink water, I feel so much better.
Milestones: Feeling movement? I hope ha ha.
Emotions: Just stressed...I can't wait to be done with the actual teaching portion of student teaching! 7 more days.

Weight Gain? Tried to eat alot healthier this week. Have been trying to eat more protein, veggies, and fruits-less junk food like cheetos =). I still want french fries tho-I could eat those for every meal ha ha.
Stretch Marks? None yet...still using my bio oil!
Sleep? Not great-I keep waking up on my back despite my best efforts to sleep on my side. I am trying to train myself early, but we will see how this goes.

It's a BOY! Logan is ecstatic. I am still in shock, but I think either way I would have been in shock...it makes it all so real!
First little outfit! Logan wanted baseball, but this was too cute to pass up!

15 Weeks-It has been an eventful one!
How Far Along? 15 weeks!
Maternity Clothes? They arrived today and I am pretty impressed! The shirts will fit eventually, but for now my everyday shirts still look fine since I mostly just look fat still lol. They jeans actually fit and I am hoping to be able to wear them the rest of the pregnancy. We luck out here in that it is pretty warm all the way through the beginning of November and I can wear dresses or leggings with dresses =).
Weight Gain? This shocked me up 6 lbs from the start-I didn't feel like I had gained much weight, but to my surprise at the doctor I am almost to 120 lbs! This put my lazy streak to end and start working out again and eating healthier-for my sanity and the baby's health.
Stretch Marks? I freaked out and had Logan looking but he determined they were just veins...yet another awesome pregnancy symptom no one tells you about until it just shows up. My stomach/back area is like a blue vein road map.
Sleep? Its been a bit rough with what occured this week-I will get to that fiasco of a story in a minute.
Best Moment of the Week? Seeing baby Brokaw yet again on the ultrasound and possibly finding out its a girl! We will hopefully have confirmation on SATURDAY!!!
Movement? No but have been having lots of stretching feelings this week so maybe in the next few I will feel something.
Gender? Possibly girl-waiting for Saturday!
What I miss? Not passing out ha ha. Ok so story time. Monday I started my first day at the middle school for student teaching. I made it about 20 minutes into school and started feeling sick/dizzy/hot....and then I passed out on the cement when we went outside for the fire drill. I hit my face on the cement, tore my finger up, scuffed my shoulder, and knee, and earned myself a ride to the ER in an ambulance. Needless to say this day was awful and a day of many firsts for my life. However, when it was all said and done, the wee one and myself are both ok....I am just a bit beat up. Here is a picture of my eye. It has since turned into a black eye and scabbed over a bit. I got a billion questions about my bandaged finger and eye today from the sixth graders, but nothing horrible =). See I told you it has been eventful!
Symptoms: Dizzy and hungry. Trying to control both. I am happy to report that I was TOLD to drink caffeine to help with the dizzy/low blood pressure issue. Welcome back mountain dew....ok no, I have had two but at the store I am planning on finding some tea that has caffeine and drinking that instead of unnecessary sugar.
What I'm looking forward to? SATURDAY to find out officially what baby Brokaw is!
Weekly Wisdom: If you feel dizzy...sit down or lay down!!! Don't think it will pass....=/
Emotions: Embarrassed, but overall pretty stable. School is stressful, but so far mostly relaxed regarding baby stuff!

For all of those that have been waiting
Here is what the belly is looking like at 14 weeks! Its smaller in the morning, but this is what it looks like around dinner time. Nothing too big yet!

14 Weeks! Considered 2nd trimester!!
Maternity Clothes? I ordered my first ones this week! I am sure I won't need them for a while, but I would like some jeans to wear on jeans day at school that are comfortable! So we will see how they go. I ordered them online from old navy, so we will see how the quality and fit go.
Weight Gain? Up a total of 3 lbs...I think it fluctuates depending on the day. Starting second trimester I believe they want you to gain about a pound a week or so-total weight gain should be between 25-30 lbs. So I am on track that I know of!
Stretch Marks? None yet-I started using a new product called Bio Oil-I have read good things about it...so we shall see. Plus the smell doesn't want to make me puke when I wear it-so its a win win.
Sleep? This week I have been sleeping well. I think it has to do with I get the entire bed to myself with Logan being gone at training this week =).
Best Moment of the Week? Purchasing the crib! I placed the order for the crib this week at Babies R Us. It should come in in about two weeks, when Logan and I (meaning Logan) can go pick it up and bring it to the baby's room. When my Mom comes to visit in October, she is going to help me get everything set up! Now to get Logan to finish cleaning out his desk and switch the furniture around!
Movement? More fluttering but once again its very hit or miss. I ma hoping it becomes more constant in the next few weeks!
Gender? Waiting for September 3rd!! 10 days!
What I miss? Brushing my teeth without gagging....what a horrible pregnancy symptom lol.
Symptoms: Still tired, but overall feeling pretty good!
What I'm looking forward to? I have another doctors appointment next Tuesday-I am ready to hear the heartbeat again. Then the ultrasound on the 3rd! I have been spoiled with appointments this month so going from September 3rd to October 3rd without an appointment/ultrasound is going to be tough! Hopefully by then I can feel movement so I will worry less!
Weekly Wisdom: Going to bed earlier makes me feel better throughout the day! I have more energy to workout and sleep better at night!
Milestones: Second trimester!!! Finally-for real as of Monday. This is the "easy" trimester according to everything that I have read. So far all seems to be going well....lets hope it keeps this trend.
Emotions:Missing Logan this week. I am ready to have him back. I am a bit nervous how I will handle his upcoming deployment with added pregnancy hormones!

Pictures of Baby Brokaw!
So here are all of the pictures we received today. Some of them I can tell what they are of....others not a clue. It does look like I am growing a bird in one and an alien in another ha ha. Overall, it looks like a baby which is great! The tech assured us everything looks great.
The baby was SUPER stubborn and flipped in the wrong position a good portion of the ultrasound. I had to pee several times, once because my bladder was WAY too full and the baby had no room to move and then another time to see if we could get the baby to flip. Even after several trips the baby had moved a bit, but had its head and chin down with arms around its face so she gave up and did my blood test and then went back to measuring the neck for the Down's Syndrome test. Eventually our tech gave up and then went and got another lady and sure enough, just like our tech said, the baby cooperated and they got three good measurements. A quick check with the doctor on the measurements and all looked great! We ended up getting a CD of pictures which is what I have posted here! The tech was blaming the baby's personality on Logan ha ha...typical. I think its going to take after him more than me....
I scheduled us an ultrasound September 3rd at an elective ultrasound clinic in Bowling Green, KY. They claim they can see the sex at 15 weeks...so keep your fingers crossed.
I think that is all the updates for this week =).

13 weeks!
How Far Along? 13 weeks!
Maternity Clothes? Nope-just using my bella band-so far its going well at least with my work clothes! I wear alot of dresses on the weekend.
Weight Gain? Still haven't weighted myself. My chiropractor commented on how I look the same, which is nice ha ha...however talk to my clothes and how they fit and its a different story =). I feel things are just moving around.
Stretch Marks? None yet-thankfully!
Sleep? It goes through phases. Logan has been working alot this week at night, so those nights are a bit harder to sleep well until he is home!
Best Moment of the Week? Going to babies r us and looking at all the stuff we could possibly need! I don't think Logan would count this as a best moment ha ha....he thinks we should do all of this during the registering, but we did get somethings picked out, such as the crib!!
Weirdest Comment: None this week!
Movement? I had this weird flutter feeling this week-it was almost like a tickle. It happened for a few seconds and then gone, not sure if it was the baby or not!
Gender? We have had a few snags when it comes to this. The place we were going in Clarksville apparently went out of business and failed to call anyone who had appointments scheduled! One of my friends saw something about it on facebook and told me about it. SOOO there is another place in Bowling Green, KY. I am going to ask Logan if we can drive there, which is about 1.5 hours away and just spend our anniversary up in Bowling Green-apparently its a nice city...perhaps stay the night in a hotel to celebrate. We shall see. If not, we will have to wait until October 3rd to find out what we are having!! I don't think I can wait that long.
What I miss? This week has been hard with the exhaustion. I really wanted a mountain dew, but just stuck with water! I miss it!!
Symptoms: Tired, hungry, and irritable (poor Logan-he puts up with alot)!
What I'm looking forward to? Our NT scan on Friday-I will hopefully be able to post a picture Friday afternoon of me and the baby! =)
Weekly Wisdom: Wear comfy shoes to work, the pain of standing all day for the back and my feet are not worth wearing cute shoes!
Emotions:I have been more emotional this week, poor Logan as I said before. He keeps telling Rusty I will be nice again once the baby comes ha ha...so I am working on being more patient at home. I am so exhausted come nighttime when I see Logan that I use all my patience and energy working with students-so I am working on being nice! =)

12-3 months!!!!
How Far Along? 12 weeks!
Maternity Clothes? Nope-I think I am going to have a while to go!
Weight Gain? I haven't weighed myself with how busy I have been! I am thinking its probably about the same-maybe 1-2 lbs!
Stretch Marks? Not yet....
Sleep? Better this past week! I am going to ruin it saying that but other than the typical up two times to pee, I have been sleeping well!
Best Moment of the Week? Realizing we are only a week or so away from second trimester!
Weirdest Comment: Is that bloat or baby-from Logan ha ha...typical.
Movement?Nothing so much this week. We read that the reflexes and movement actually just starts this week, so maybe I can feel something in the next few weeks.
Gender? September 3rd-we are doing our elective ultrasound! So 3 weeks and counting =). I think Logan is just ask excited as I am, I think it will help him connect more to the baby!
What I miss? Not being totally wiped out at the end of the day. Student teaching is tough while growing a baby!
Symptoms: Tired, hungry, bloated....the typical fun pregnancy symptoms!
What I'm looking forward to? Another ultrasound on the 19th and the gender reveal on September 3rd!
Weekly Wisdom: Go to bed at 9 even if I don't feel tired....I am turning into a regular old lady!
Emotions: I honestly don't have alot of time to think about the baby, sometimes I forget I am even pregnant because I am so busy with student teaching. However, the extreme exhaustion at the end of the day is a gentile reminder! =).

11 Weeks!
How Far Along? 11 weeks!
Maternity Clothes? Nope. I actually spent an afternoon looking and trying on maternity clothes and found that I am going to struggle in finding ones that fit. I am so short, that I think I will have to buy petite size. Also, my belly is not nearly large enough to fit into the pants with the huge stretchy front. Guess I will have to make due with what clothes I have now and just attempt to modify what I have.
Weight Gain? At the doctor on Tuesday I was at 114. So I think its still about 1-2 pounds depending on the day.
Stretch Marks? Not yet....am using my lotion! Taking suggestions if anyone has heard of any good ones, pass the info along!
Sleep? Crappy. I am seriously considering buying a body pillow this weekend.
Best Moment of the Week? Hearing the heartbeat at the doctor!
Weirdest Comment: The doctor commenting on the sound the gel made when squeezing it out on the doppler and comparing it to a fart ha ha....I told him I hear that sound from Logan frequently enough!
Movement? I have been feeling some weird fluttering motion but its really hard to say if its me imagining things or not!
Gender? Nope, still waiting!
What I miss? Sleeping well.
Symptoms: Tired and HUNGRY! Especially at night I find that I could eat from right around dinner until I force myself to bed so I stop eating =). The other night Logan came to bed and I was propped up in bed eating cheerios-typical pregnant woman behaviors lol.
What I'm looking forward to? Getting out of the first trimester, 2 weeks!
Weekly Wisdom: Working out does make me feel better and have more energy! I am aiming to work out 4 days a week-Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and then either Saturday or Sunday!
Emotions: I think its finally setting in that we will have a baby and adding to our family. So a bit scared, but mostly excited. I think it will really help when we find out what we are having!

Ok once again failed on the picture. I PROMISE to take one this weekend. I am also going to have to work on updating this blog every Thursday now that I am back to school!
