Our Growing Family: December 2013

Merry Christmas to everyone! We spent Christmas in our new home in Virginia, it was very nice. We had our little family most of the day until Joe came over to spend the afternoon and evening with us.

Both, Landon and I are rather sick with a pretty bad cold, which made for an interesting day. He was extra whiny and just irritated with himself and everyone around him. Unfortunately, that made for a rough day for all involved. He loved playing with all his toys, but that came intermittently between constant whining!

Landon got his train table which he has really enjoyed. I still think he is a bit young for it, so it will be a good gift to grow into! He loves his tunnel and kitchen food as well. I think we had a pretty balanced Christmas, just the perfect amount of things for him to play with.

On Christmas Eve, we had Chili and went to look at Christmas lights locally. We flipped Landon's car seat forward facing for the day so he could see. I am not really sure he was impressed. WE haven't decided if we are going to flip him back or not. He is so close to turning 2, when we would flip him forward facing anyway, but at the same time, it is so much safer for him to be rear facing. We visited a house that you can get out and walk around, kind of like Tincup in Colorado. We brought a food donation since they ask for one and enjoyed walking around their yard and looking at the display. We also drove to a few other neighborhoods, but we found our own to be the best! Landon also had his first "Chocolat" (hot chocolate) on Christmas eve. He was a big fan, he just smiled and smiled while drinking it. He calls it Chocolat, with a french accent, since he is obsessed with the movie The Polar Express. They sing it in a song and he picked it up from there.

We officially get rid of our old rental house tomorrow! We are having a problem getting in contact with the property manager, which doesn't really surprise me. I am sending Logan to the office to return our keys and get our security deposit back. Hopefully, that works in our favor.

Again, huge blogging fail! We have been busy with family and just all the happenings of life, that I never got around to blogging!

In the last few weeks we had Logan's parents in town for a visit and it was great fun! Landon absolutely loved having his Nana and Pop Pop in town. He loved all the extra attention and constant playmate =). It was nice having Logan off for the whole week as well, so we could all spend some quality time together. We went to Christmas town, saw some ships on the Navy base, went to Colonial Williamsburg, and several other places. Landon is still talking about Nana's room and Pop Pop's chair even almost a week after they left. We hope they come back soon. =)

We are currently on a break from music, MDO, and most of our other activities until after the first of the year when they pick back up!

Landon is just a sponge these days with all the things he knows and can say. The other day he came up to me and said two Waba...mean two pacifiers as he was holding two. He seems to be very interested in the number concept. So we are going to spend some time working on counting objects. I think he understands one and two, but not much beyond that. He also likes to work on Abc's. He is still not showing hardly interest in colors. He can do yellow and occasionally blue, but he tends to call everything blue. I wonder if he has a hard time telling a difference between red and blue. From what I remember, color blindness runs on both sides of the family, so we will see what happens with L.

He is currently obsessed with The Polar Express. We watch it daily around here and it is requested every single morning after breakfast. He comes and goes through out, but he loves all the train parts. He is truly a little boy through and through.

We have been spending alot of time at Christmas Town this year since we have our season passes still. Landon loves the train and constantly requests to go on a choo choo ride. I promised him we would go this weekend to appease his constant requests.

L sings a lovely rendition of Jingle Bells, but sings it as mingie mells....then followed by a loud HEY! He is so funny at this age.

He is still obsessed with all things that are related to building houses. He tells me he is always fixing things while hammering on the wall. At least he always says Hammer wall so I know he is going to do it and I can redirect! He carries his drill around constantly and is always fixing his car as well ha ha. The people who come in to do small repairs for our 30 day house check in, always get a huge kick out of him since he follows them around telling them exactly what they are doing. My favorite thing Landon has said to the worker guys is "get down people" when one man was standing on a ladder ha ha. He thought he wasn't allowed to be on the ladder ha....they thought that was pretty amusing.

One of my favorite things about Landon at this age, is he is able to make friends with anyone. He will generally act shy to someone at first, but then decides to warm right up. He will say "Hi People" and then proceed to play peek a boo and I say "I see Roo" in his little high pitched baby voice. Pretty cute. He spent a good 30 minutes playing with a guy at the car dealership yesterday. The guy was good with him and talked to him like he was old enough to talk, which was cute. Landon thought he was pretty cool.
