33 Weeks!

I can't believe Landon is almost 8 months old....good lord.  Every day we go out you are the star of the show.  We stop and talk to multiple people, you smile and make the eyes at everyone, you kick your legs in excitement, it goes on and on.  You are the friendliest little thing!  Since I am not terribly social, I have to remember to stop and interact with these people so you see that it is good to continue to talk to people and not be afraid of them.  With that said, if someone seems creepy, we smile and move on!

We have had a busy week since your Daddy got home last Friday.  We went out to eat a couple of times this past weekend, ran errands, took Rusty to the dog park, went to see Daddy for lunch, went to music, and went to the salon to get my hair cut and colored.  You have been fantastic this week while we are out.

This week Landon:

  • You are still working on crawling.  You really can't figure out how to move your arms and legs at the same time.  You just drag yourself across the floor to whatever you are hoping to get to.  Generally, it is anything electronic or some cord you aren't supposed to get.  Perhaps you are going to be an electrical engineer with all your interest in cords! I am constantly chasing you to get you from grabbing the computer cord or the one extension cord that is left on the floor that we can't seem to hide well enough!
  • When you are finished with your bath, I say...it's time to get out Buddy and stand up to unplug the drain.  Well between that saying and me standing up to unplug the drain, you kick your legs are hard as you possibly can to get in your last splashes before we get out.  I usually end up drenched in the process, but it is fun none the less!
  • You have become very vocal again in the past week.  I am thinking babbling may be coming soon.  You seem to go through stages of working on something verbal or something physical.  We have had lots of physical milestones lately, so maybe now some verbal things will begin to happen. I am determined to make Dada your first word to make Logan feel less sad about being gone so frequently!
  • We went to the park this past weekend and you went on your first swing ride with me.  Logan took some pictures-sorry not the best quality! You had a great time.  I really need to find a park that has actual baby swings!

  • You came with me to get my hair cut yesterday.  You were an angel.  You hung out with the receptionist the entire time.  You two had a great time.  She walked you around, showed you all the different things, let you talk and see all the different people, etc.  You even took a NAP on her....you don't even do that for me.  Too bad I didn't ask her if she would ever consider baby sitting for us.  Perhaps the next time we go in...
  • You are getting stranger by the day.  You come by it naturally, but I was hoping you wouldn't be as weird as your parents.  For example, I just caught you chewing/licking the handle on the fireplace.  Good thing we don't plan on using that this year.
  • Your food eating is coming along very well.  We haven't run into anymore foods that you are allergic too...yet.  We have continued to give you food from our meals in addition to your purees.  You are still enjoying your yogurt.  The good news is also you little system seems to have worked itself out and you are much more regular again! Yay for you, boo for me and the cloth diapers ha ha.
Here are some other pictures we took throughout the week!  In a couple of weeks our new iphones will be in and hopefully we will have better quality pictures and movies! YAY!

Ok since the movie last week failed....I have several (not extremely interesting) videos of the little human.

Until next week =).

32 Weeks

The wee man is now 32 weeks old.  Each week that passes he learns something new, it is rather fascinating.  However, as each week goes on we are entering into the separation anxiety and stranger danger area as well.  We have had a bit of a rough week.  Lots of screaming/yelling at virtually everything. Unhappy-yell, happy-yell, don't want to nap-yell, tired-yell, don't want a new diaper-yell, clothing change-yell, Mommy leaves the room-yell, Mommy picks you up-yell, Mommy puts you down-yell, you see the pattern.  Pretty much anything requires some sort of vocal thing which is usually yelling.  You also have started working yourself up over virtually nothing and even when I try to calm you down you still proceed to carry on...its rather confusing, not to mention frustrating.  I think we are both rather tired of each other and having Logan back will be a welcomed relief for both of us! Also, seriously considering wearing ear plugs.

This week Landon:
  • Have started eating larger chunks of food. We tried a stage 3 food of a chicken puree mixed with some veggies-that didn't go overall particularly well.  Lots of gagging and bad faces were made.  I think we will wait a bit to try that again.  However, I have started giving you little rice crackers that dissolve and you can hold and those go over alot better.  You seem to enjoy feeding yourself.  This next week I am going to try to find some veggies that we can make for our dinner and also give you to hold and feed yourself.  Perhaps we will also try some larger chunks of chicken or turkey.  I have also started giving you about 2 oz. of baby yogurt-you are doing pretty well with it considering! Today I mixed some peaches with it and you really enjoyed that.
  • Most places we go now I give you small tastes of my food.  You have had a bit of chicken noodle soup, pancakes, and chicken nugget meat.  So far so good...you are slowly learning to gum things so that is great progress.
  • We went to North Carolina last weekend to visit friends and you had a good time.  However, sleeping in your pack n play was a disaster.  You were up every 1.5-2 hours all night for two nights.  We were exhausted by the time we got home. The first night home you slept from 7 pm-9 am with only one wake up!
  • Your sleep is still all over the place.  Last night I started a new rule that I will not feed you before 3 AM.  I REALLY don't think you need to be fed before 6 AM, but honestly after listening to you cry for 30 minutes at 1:30, then finally go back to sleep, then to wake up at exactly 3 AM...I was not about to take on that battle again.  After I fed you you were quiet until 8:45.  I am fairly certain it is just needed to help you relax enough to go back to sleep.  You have the shortest temper EVER and when you don't get what you want you are quick to let me know.  I am trying my hardest not to give in so Logan can't say I turned you into a brat ha ha.
  • Your new thing is you have started licking things.  You lick the fireplace all the time.  I now kind of understand why they make people sign those lead paint warnings in old houses! I now need to figure out why you are licking random things =).
  • In addition to licking random things you also have started biting my nose.  I think it is more of an idea of kissing.  I have been working on this with you but instead of kissing my cheek with a closed mouth I get big open mouth kisses on my nose.  You put your mouth around my nose and kind of close...it is rather funny, but very odd. We are also working on clapping and waving, but those are MUCH further away...I think they say those are usual 9 month milestones!
  • You still aren't crawling.  I really thought being around Brooke you would have picked it up watching her.  You only have one more day to wait until we can show your Daddy what you learned and you can take off.  I also realized we need to get a few gates for the house-one for the top and bottom of the stairs.  I am sure Rusty will hate those since he is used to having full run of the house!
  • You have started doing a downward dog yoga pose lately.  You put your little butt in the air and get up on your toes...pretty cute.  Not sure what this leads to though, maybe the ability to keep your bell off the ground when you are crawling?  Or pulling up...either one should be interesting.
Ok now time for the pictures of the past week!

Continuing his trend of paper eating....this was our lunch stop on our drive to NC.

Wee Landonius

He loves to read

Rusty is slowly coming around to being pulled on by Landon...Rusty loves to lick Landon and honestly right now I am just going to allow it, especially if it means he wants to be near him.  We will break that habit down the road.

Super up close and personal =)
For the movie this week-most practice crawling!

It has been a rough couple of weeks around these parts with the wee human.  I guess not every month can be easy! I think he is just learning to assert himself and isn't pleased when I don't give him exactly what he wants! Add that to the fact that we are alone 90% of the time; I don't know how single parents do it! On that note-if you would like to come visit, we are more than happy to have you! We could definitely use some distraction from our every day lives and I could use some help =).
Until next week-here is to hoping this next week is better!

31 Weeks!

So I thought for this week I would do a day in the life of Landon. Then post some videos of what he has been up to lately.

8:30-9:00-Wakeup, get dressed, nurse
9:30-If we are home he gets solids-some form of fruit.
9:00-11:00-Depending on the day we either go to music, our walk, or story time at the library
11:00-11:30-Nap time! Usually for 1.5 hours. Nurse if he seems hungry or didn't eat well that morning.
1:00-If he didn't get breakfast that day, he will eat about 2 oz. of solids here.  Usually a combo of fruit or veggie.  He will usually nurse around this time as well.
1:30-Play time! Landon practices crawling, sitting, tormenting Rusty, read books, sing songs, occasionally go out for a walk outside...the usual....If we have errands to run we will usually do them here if we weren't out in the morning time.
3:00-Nap number 2 of the day-usually 1-1.5 hours.
4:30-Nurse and more play time.  Landon plays in his jumper or more floor time.  We usually fit some cuddling in at this time of day also since he is starting to get a bit fussy from just the day itself.
5:30-I get his dinner ready and feed him.  Usually 3 oz. of a veggie, 1 oz. of a fruit-occasionally I trick him by mixing a veggie he doesn't really care for in with a fruit.  Mango seems to mix well since it is so strong that he doesn't even notice there is a gross veggie in there =).
6:00-Landon sits in his jumper again or his swing, depending on his mood, while I make dinner! I stuff my face as quickly as possible since he is usually pretty fussy.
6:30-We usually watch the nightly news and cuddle on the couch.
7:00-We head upstairs to start the bed time routine.  He gets his medicine and get stripped down to his diaper.  I go run his bath while he rolls around his room and proceeds to get into things he shouldn't.  Bath time and get ready for bed.  We rock and then nurse usually.
7:30-In bed and hopefully asleep.  Since he doesn't take a 3rd nap anymore he is usually passed out as I put him down in bed.  Occasionally he will play in his crib for a few minutes and then is usually always out by 8!
5-6 AM: Wake up and eat, back down for a few more hours!

Well that is our day.  It seems a bit boring occasionally but it helps now that we have three things that occupy our mornings during the week!

Next up pictures and videos!

This face cracks me up! 7 months old!

He knows he is a handful!

Making it very hard to take the 7 month pictures!

Trying to figure out taking pictures on manual outside

Oh this pine needle looks delicious-I think I'll eat it.

First day of music class, 9-11-2012

Puts the oddest things in his mouth these days.
Ok now for the most important thing that the wee man learned! He has started scooting and army crawling! It is pretty amusing.  Enjoy =)

Until next week =)

30 Weeks!

Sorry for the bit of a delay on posting today.  Landon and I spent our morning at a trial music class at the local library! It was REALLY fun.  It was 30 minutes, about 10 Mom's and babies.  The kids ranged from 6 months-2 years.  We sang songs, kept beats, moved the babies, did head, toes, and nose type songs, etc.  I am seriously considering signing Landon up for a weekly class at the local church that has the Music Class (they are unaffiliated-just use the church for space I guess).  So I need to call the local director and see if their is an opening in the Tuesday morning class and see if we can afford it =).  I also finally got signed up for a library card, so I can check out books for Landon and myself. They also offer ebooks for my kindle-so also super exciting!! I am thinking we will also try to attend the usual baby story time on Thursday mornings.

Landon has been in a much happier mood this week.  I finally figured out that the small amounts of dairy I was reintroducing into my diet was the cause for the super fussy mood =/.  I am not really sure if he will grow out of this.  I hope so, for his sake!  I know another Mom who's daughter has the same problem.  She now drinks half whole milk/half soy milk.  So we will see when it comes time to introduce dairy to Landon around a year, what we end up doing.  His Dr. is already aware of this issue, so hopefully he will come up with a plan for the wee man.   I have read that he is supposed to be introduced to yogurt starting at 7 months.  They claim that the dairy proteins are broken down (or something of the sort) and they are easier to digest...so we might try that.

We also got back to our walking schedule this week. I can tell taking the last 3 weeks off from our usual walking group put me back a bit.  We usually walk 4 miles and by the last lap around Colonial Williamsburg, my legs were getting tired!  Landon loves walks and I think he was happy to be back out. It is so much cooler in the mornings now and more enjoyable.  The leaves are slowly starting to change and will be really pretty in the coming weeks for walks.

This week Landon:

  • You have started army crawling around the house.  You can spin in a complete circle on your blanket and also in your crib.  When I watch you on the monitor, you amaze me at what you seem to learn how to do while you are supposed to be "sleeping".  Rolling, scooting, and army crawling make you seem so big!

Who me? I didn't pull this out...
  • We are quickly approaching 7 months of nursing.  Nursing you is still going well.  You are taking a bottle better, we still try to give you one once a week just to keep you used to taking one.  Nursing you is getting a bit more challenging since you like to wiggle.  Alot of the times I end up with a food on my shoulder and your hand on my face....its funny, but kind of annoying!

See the foot?
  • You are transitioning from 3 naps to 2 naps.  It is really hard to change your schedule.  On days that you wake up at 2:30 from your second nap, I have to force you down for a 3rd nap and it doesn't go well.  Yesterday you cried for 30 minutes, then slept for 15! So today we are just trying two naps, no matter how long before bed time it is and we will see how it goes!
  • You tried meat for the first time this week.  I gave your a turkey, veggie, puree.  You really seemed to enjoy it.  We are also going to be introducing chicken and maybe some yogurt (as I talked about above) over the next week or so.

Here are just some other pictures, I took throughout the week!

Finally, for our weekly movie.  Please excuse my voice...trying to get Landon to crawl to me =).

Until next week =).
