11 Weeks Old!

So Landon is 2.5 months old! I still can't believe it.  People ask how old he is when we are out and they are shocked he is only 2.5 months old because he is so chubby!  I think people must just think of weight in the age of babies and not consider his length!  Seeing as he is short and chubby, I think everyone just assumes he is older than he really is.  Here is a picture to show you his true chubby belly...

He was super hot the other day when we got home from running errands! So he got to hang out in just his diaper which he LOVES.  I have a feeling I will have a problem keeping clothes on him when he gets a bit older =). Despite how chubby he looks, his 0-3 months clothes are still a bit big in certain brands and most of his footed pajamas fit just fine since he is so short! I am glad to see he is staying pretty true to size of the clothes!

We had a busy week! Lara was in town visiting from Saturday to Wednesday.  We went on a walk at the Greenway in Clarksville, went to lunch with the Curves ladies so they could meet Landon and to celebrate two of their birthdays, went out to dinner with Landon for the first time at the Black Horse Pub and Brewery downtown, and spent a day in Nashville doing some shopping and going to The Grand Olee Opry.  So as you can see Landon had a BUSY last few days.  For the most part he was great while we were out to eat and running errands.  We were most concerned about dinner since he usually gets fussy right around 6 pm.  He was asleep when we first got into the restaurant, but soon woke up.  He got a bit cranky about being in his car seat so I took him out and he was pretty much happy as a clam after that.

He has been pretty amazing this past week.  I love watching him smile.  He is getting VERY close to being able to roll over from belly to back during tummy time. He gets so frustrated and upset he just pulls his legs up under him and then pushes and tries to roll over.  I fully expect him to scare himself the first time because even only rolling part way over got him to scream and got him even more upset.  It is hard to leave him down there when he is so frustrated but I know he has to develop all the different muscles, so I will just wear ear plugs during tummy time =). 

He got his first big boy bath this week also.  He is almost getting a bit long for his infant tub and he keeps pushing off the end with his feet and it makes me nervous.  So I put a town down in the tub and put him on the little holder and that is how he got his bath last night.  He didn't seem to notice much of a difference, but it definitely was a bit easier to do without him squirming around and kicking the side of the baby tub!  He is still a bit young to find bath time super fun, but he is starting to move his legs a little bit, so I assume splashing will be great fun for him when he gets a bit older.

Landon is becoming more interactive by the day.  Yesterday while I was getting him dressed he actually focused on my face and would copy my facial expressions.  He also was copying the sounds I was making.  I swore he said hi, but I know that is probably not possible ha ha.  I am hoping he gets to interact with Logan like this.  It was a great feeling and so fun to see he is becoming a little person, not just a wee little infant that kind of just stares off into space!

Okay off to the chiropractor for Landon and I.  Then we have to take care of some moving stuff and get some of that fun stuff figured out!

10 Weeks Old!

Landon is now into the double digits in weeks...awwww.  Landon I think has hit a developmental milestone this week.  Just in the past few days his head control has become more stable in the bumbo, started batting at toys on his play mat, and learned a new cry (this one I hate ha ha).  He smiles alot every day, especially in the morning.  I think this developmental milestone has messed with his sleep schedule a bit, but overall he is still at least going between 5-6 hours in the first stretch, then it can range from an hour to another four until he wakes up again.

This was a big week for our little man, he had his two month appointment at the Dr., where he got his first round of vaccines (6 of them to be exact, but I would have to look to tell you which ones).  He got three shots and one oral one, two of the shots were combined, which I appreciated since it meant less shots they had to give him.  They did all his measurements first when we got there.  He is 22.5 inches long, just barely in the 25th percentile, a short little dude.  His head is super tiny, the 22nd percentile, which I always think his head looks HUGE...guess not lol.  Then his weight, 13 lbs 3.2 oz. and in the 76th percentile! Short and chubby little man, the Dr. did not seemed concerned at all and just said keep up the good work.  We commented on his flat little head, but she said its super common for babies this age since they still spend so much time on their backs.  She said over the next few months try putting him places where he is more on his neck vs. his head so it can have a chance to round out by 4 months.  Overall she was very pleased with how he is growing and developing and said he looks great.  She also commented that she can see no remaining effects of his bells palsy from his brith, so that was GREAT to hear.  After the Dr., the poor nurse had to come back in and give him his shots.  He was already a bit irritated with being pushed on and flipped around, but he did SO MUCH better than we expected. He of course turned bright red, screamed, and cried, but only for a minute and he was fine.  The harder part came later in the day after he had slept for a few hours and then just woke up and you could tell he was just plain uncomfortable.  He did run a low grade fever and we gave him some Tylenol before bed to help with.  He slept horribly that night, but we did a bit better last night.

Landon's SLOWLY (and I mean slowly) growing out of his colicky behavior in the evenings.  Some days he forgets it entirely and others he still starts at exactly 6 pm on the dot.  Often I don't even bother to look at a clock, I just time the evening by his crying ha ha.  The days that we seem to be out doing things or in a new place, such as by the fire pit this past weekend, he does his best!  On Saturday night, Logan had some buddies over for a fire and Landon and I joined them until it was time for his bath and bed.  I got him all bundled up in his jacket and mittens and out we went.  I was fully expecting him to melt down after just a few minutes of being out there, but he LOVED it.  We were out for well over an hour and he just talked and smiled at random things, it was pretty cute.

In other Landon news, he is back to rejecting the pacifier.  Annie and I tried SO HARD to get him to like one and he did for about a week, then back to not taking it.  Oh well...instead he just seems to suck on his fingers or hand.

Landon is becoming more interactive every day.  He has this cute little sly smile on occasion and then other times you get a huge gummy one!  He is still smiling at his fan, baseball wall, and other random objects, but each day Logan and I get huge gummy ones as well!  This is the first one we finally caught a picture of this past weekend: (Sorry it's a bit blurry, have to be fast these days)

In other news, it looks like we will be moving around the beginning of June!  We met with a realtor yesterday and that turned out to be a huge let down on selling our house.  We would have to come up with roughly $12,000 in order to sell our house and that is not something we want to be doing right now with a new baby, moving, etc.  So we decided, with the help of the realtor, that we should rent for a year or two and then look at how the market is doing then.  It is not really ideal, but we will work with a property management company to find a good renter and make sure everything with the house is okay and stays clean and nice.  Another perk of this is that Landon and I will be able to go with Logan right away instead of waiting until the house sells, so less time apart.  We are going to be putting the house up for rent probably within the next week.  Let's hope we find a renter quickly.  They said most people fill their rental home within 30-60 days, so that is about the timeline we have!

Weekly Weigh-In: 9 Weeks Postpartum

Ok so I didn't get this posted yesterday, but I wanted to explain why I will post these on Saturday now instead of Thursdays!  I joined Weight Watchers!  I have several friends who have had great success on this and while Annie was here she said she was doing it and having some pretty good success if she sticks to the plan!  So I joined the online program for 3 months and so far have had pretty good success.    In the past two weeks I have lost about 5 pounds.  From the last time I updated I was back up 2 pounds on any give day, so when I weighed in when I started I was around 128! 

In addition to joining  Weight Watchers, I have started a workout routine.  I tried the Shred but it just wasn't motivating since it was the same thing everyday!  Annie introduced me to some workouts she completes, that are short but VERY intense.  So I will be doing those every other day and doing a walk/run with Landon in the stroller on the other days with two days off per week.  Now that I am over being sick and we are pretty much done with visitors for a while it will hopefully be easier to at least find 30 minutes to workout each day!  Here is to hoping anyway....

9 Weeks!

Landon is just over 2 months old now! He has changed so much since the first days we brought him home!  He is still just as opinionated and short tempered as ever, even more so I would venture to say.  I am secretly hoping his temperament balances out before he is a toddler because I can't imagine dealing with tantrums of this level! 

Landon is FINALLY getting over his cold.  He still coughs on occasion, still randomly stuffy at night, and still has one goopy eye, but overall he seems to be back to his usual self.

This week has been a bit rough for all of us.  With Logan getting back, Landon's routine has changed a little bit which is already hard to adjust too.  He has been waking up more frequently at night which I imagine is because having another person in the room just changes the environment for him.  We put him in his crib for two nights, but that left me MORE exhausted because instead of just pulling him in bed with me to nurse and putting him back in his bed, I have to get up and walk over to his room, stay awake and put him back down, then make sure he stays asleep once I get back to my room on the monitor! He is such a grunty guy it's hard to tell if he is awake or asleep and when I need to get up before he gets upset and starts crying.   We worry about getting him used to sleeping in his crib with us getting ready to move soon and then having him have to go back to sleeping in his Rock n' Play sleeper when we move.  So we will see what we end up trying.

This past weekend we went car shopping for a bigger car for Landon, Rusty, and the stroller! Landon was a great little trooper and slept the majority of the time we ran errands.  We went to lunch, the mall, the dog park (Landon and I stayed on the outside at the tables), dropped Rusty back off at home, and then went to several car dealerships.  At the last one Landon finally decided he was hungry and put an end to our car looking which was fine since we were trapped by a pushy car salesman ha ha.  We think we have decided on a Ford Explorer. Although I still really like the Jeep Grand Cherokee, they are just a bit out of our price range!

First Easter-April 8th, 2012

We have lots of big changes coming up! We are most likely moving within the next few months which means our house needs to be prepared to go on the market! Talk about stressful!  I will try to keep up with the weekly blogging, but we will see  how I do!

Also, the Weekly Weigh In posts, will be back this week but on Sunday.  I will explain why on that post =).

8 Weeks!

Landon is 8 weeks old!  I can't believe how fast time goes.  His second month-day is coming around the corner at an alarming rate!

These last few weeks Landon has been transforming from a helpless human into one that interacts more with us and the environment!  He absolutely loved his Aunt Annie visiting and I am sure he will miss her kissing his little toes!  He had been smiling on random at people and objects for the past week, but when Annie was kissing his toes one morning he actually smiled as a reaction; it was pretty much the most precious thing ever. OF COURSE, we didn't get a picture ha ha.  Landon since then has been flashing his cute little dimple smile at times when I still don't have a camera, but it is so fun and rewarding to see that smile!  You can almost guarantee when he is getting ready to nurse, he flashes a smile, mostly because I think he see's his best friends ha ha (my boobs lol)! He will also smile after he is done nursing and while laying on his changing pad.  We are still working on catching a good smile for a picture!

Landon also had another first this week, his first cold.  I came down with a sinus infection and bronchitis and passed it to poor little Landon.  His is not as bad as mine, which I am thankful for.  We did end up taking him to the Dr. so that we could make sure he wasn't so sick he would need some medicine, not that there is much to give him at his young age.  The Dr. diagnosed him with an upper respiratory infection and pretty much just said time and keep up what we are doing with steamy bathroom visits, nose drops, snot sucking, and Vicks.  He is SLOWLYYYYYYYY getting better.  He seems less stuffy today, although he is developing a cough.  At least it seems to be moving and hopefully that means it is moving out.  At least he appears to be sleeping better today and breathing a bit better.  Let's hope this trend is here to stay and he gets better and better each day! He sounds so pathetic; nothing is worse than having a sick baby and you can't do anything to make him feel better!

Sickly Landon....this was his worst day!

Landon had his audiology appointment today! He passed his hearing test on both ears, even being sick! Woo hoo for him! We had to wait just about an hour and Landon was slowly starting to lose patience, as were Annie and I.  Just as I went to ask how much longer, we were called back into a little room where the Dr. put a little clip on Landon's shirt and a thing in his ear and started doing something on the computer.  Landon was not pleased and of course showed his displeasure with it by crying ha ha...pretty much the opposite of what we needed him to do.  The Dr. said the test works best when a baby sleeps and Landon must have took the hint and passed out for a little snooze.  He let her test both of his ears and test for fluid in one of them as well, which came back clear.  He passed in flying colors on both ears, so that means no more appointments for audiologists unless I notice something in the future and want to have it checked out! 

Landon has FINALLY accepted a pacifier....thank you LORD! It has been a life saver on some of those nights when Landon has a melt down or when we are out in town running errands or at appointments.  Annie and I vowed to find one he liked and he finally accepts (most of the time) the MAM pacifiers.  Too bad they are rather girly looking, but at this point, I don't care lol.   We took back the 4 other brands and bought two more packs of these ones.  Let's hope this isn't a fluke!!

On a funnier note, Landon gave himself a hickey! He was napping on Annie and I noticed a weird mark on his arm that looked like a bruise and we were baffled how he got it.  Well as he was nursing I was looking at it and I realized he must have been sucking on his arm instead of the pacifier during his nap ha ha...the kid has quite the sucking reflex! Here is what he did to himself!

So yet another eventful week for Mr. Landon.  We are done with visitors for a while until Lara comes for a visit in the middle of this month!

Landon and I are hanging out tonight and then headed to the airport to get our soldier! We are so proud of him!  Once I know what I am allowed to post and what I am not allowed to post, I will update everyone on our situation! =).
