Snow Day!

I have been slacking!
Hello,
I decided that while Logan is still at work, sadly, I would update our blog since I don't feel like focusing on school! Since school started I have been one busy lady. Logan I think is enjoying this time apart since he is a big fan of "alone time" as he calls it! I could go without it, but it does make the time we spend together better and more special.
Work, school, and Logan have been keeping me super busy, but I am enjoying it! I still have plenty of time to do my own thing and study while Logan is at work. My classes are going well. I have already written several papers and done little projects, so it is going well. I have several smaller projects occurring over the course of the semester, which I want to do all at once! One project that isn't due until March I have already done more than half of! It actually involved creating another blog-Brokaw Spring 2010. See that little cool link thing was a cool thing I learned in class! This blog will follow my journey through discovering the new idea-Web 2.0! So feel free to read that also! It will eventually have 23 things in it-I just finished thing 9 tonight! The 23 things will be finished by the end of the semester!
Logan has been super busy with work, no big surprise there. It is 8:16 pm and he is still at work. I can only begin to imagine the type of mood he will be in when he gets home! In my time tonight with out him I should have done homework, but the tv was calling my name!
On a happier note-I FINALLY got my jeep back today! It looks pretty. They still need to remove the last part of the clear bra that was on it-but they said I could just call in one day and they would do it while I waited! I am pleased that I got it back today since they are forecasting "SNOW" (which is really never snow) so at least I will feel better driving with my jeep and a car I know! My little toyota was nice, but it felt wonderful driving home in my jeep! I felt like I sat so high-that will take some getting used to. This also means we can stop looking like white trash and take down our Christmas lights ha ha. We needed the jeep back so we could borrow our friends ladder!
Well-we are pretty boring really these days. We will hopefully have more updates soon perhaps with pictures lol.
Love,
Nicki and Logan

Start of the Year.
So far we have been a pretty busy little family lately! Logan went back to work last week, which always keeps him busy! I went to work and started school on January 14th!
I am taking two real classes that are from 4:30-7:30 PM on Tuesday and Thursday evenings (they only meet once a week) and then one online class that I do whenever I have time! I still have to go to my first class for my Tuesday night class, but if its like the other three I think I will have plenty of time to get everything done, including working and playing wife to Logan! So far my classes seem interesting-I will see what I think after being in them for longer than one week!
Yesterday, Saturday, we went to the Science Museum in Nashville. It sounded like a great plan since we thought it would be similar to the Museum in Denver, however we were sooooooo wrong! It was geared towards much younger children, I don't even think a teenager would enjoy going there. The only thing we really did enjoy was the planetarium, in which we saw a show on Mars. Logan is a huge space/planet nerd so we went to that show for him! Looking back to high school I would have never guessed he was a closet nerd, he put on a good show ha ha =)!
After the mall we went to the Oprymills mall where we had lunch at Chilis, Logan's favorite restaurant. We have one here in Clarksville, but the service and food are really not that good...so I decided to give in and let him go! We then went to Cinnabun since we DON'T have one of those here in town....I was soooooooo excited when I found one of these! Just last weekend we set out on Friday night to find a cinnamon roll...I was convinced we could find some place in our little mall, but NOPE! We even tried Starbuckss and nothing. We settled for our usual Chai lattes which weren't even all that good. SO after this little adventure you could imagine how happy we were to find the cinnabun in Nashville! Its the small things in life really =)!
Today, Logan might be doing some painting and working on some projects he has been needing to get done. I need to get ahead on my reading while I still have time for class and finish an introduction assignment for my online class!
Well better get off of here and get started for the day! We are having Logan's friend over for dinner so he can show off his man cave and play video games....FUN. Guess I will be doing something else tonight lol...

He's HOME!
As most of you already know Logan got back a few days ago from his first deployment with this unit! The little furbabies (with exception of Sadie) and myself are sooooo happy to have him home! Rusty is a completely different dog and once again I enjoy being around him. Lola is the same little brat, but at least she was not scared of Logan like I thought she might be. Sadie on the other hand had her perfect world of no Logan crash down around her and now she is holding a grudge even again me ha ha...oh well she will get over it!
We have been spending time together and that is pretty much it. We had a few house disasters yesterday with a frozen pipe and then our heater has also been not keeping the house warm. A plumber fixed the frozen pipe in a matter of a minute by holding a torch to it, the water slowly started running! Most expensive one minute of our lives as of right now...lesson learned close the vents on the outside of the house in the winter time! The heater is still questionable, but now since its the weekend we will have to wait until Monday to get someone out to look at it if we decide!
Today, Saturday, we are heading to go get a rental car since I still am without my jeep and will probably be for another 2-3 weeks. The body shop called and told me they are STILL waiting for parts. So looks like it will be a while until I have it back. After the rental car we are headed to home depot to get paint samples for Logan's bonus room and getting some other odds and ends so we can make it look more put together!
Tonight is french cooking night at the Brokaw house. I will be making Coq Au Vin for dinner and a Reine de Saba cake for desert! Wish us luck since this involves lighting alcohol on fire and me trying to split the yoke and egg whites, something I have NEVER been able to do!
We will post pictures of these yummy things on the next post.
Well off to get dressed and start the day.

Nicki and Logan

Happy New Year and Year in Review of 2009
So lets switch the title and do the year in review first! This was a VERY big year for our little family!
January 2nd, 2009 we were married in a civil ceremony in Colorado with our parents! We flew back to Hawaii shortly after...where we quickly said goodbye to the island and packed up our stuff for the big move to Tennessee! We left Hawaii at the end of January and headed to California! We spent a weekend with my brother Todd, his wife Wyoming, and little Wyatt! We had a grand time and then started our trip to Colorado. We spent a few weeks with out family in Colorado and then picked up again to start the trek to Tennessee!
We got to this lovely state in early February! Logan quickly started his training after we arrived and I started the search for a job! We bought our first house in early March and moved in shortly after that. Also in the month of March, we added to our small family, Rusty Pants! He is sitting on the floor looking at me as if I should be paying attention to him rather than typing this blog!
April brought visits from our Mom's out for Logan's graduation from training and a quick visit to see the house and the area we moved too! Logan then began the process of moving to his actual company which involved many more months of training but he was happy to be done with the majority of the difficult physical training!
In May we attended our first army formal together, that was exciting! We also started off the summer right with a camping trip to Land Between the Lakes in Kentucky with a group of friends from Logan's work! We also added little Lola to our family this month! She is a bundle of energy and love...the perfect cat for Logan to torment!
In June I began working at Curves part time, which was wonderful! I was driving myself and Logan crazy being home all day and feeling worthless! June was pretty uneventful except for beginning to work! I went home in June for my bridal shower which was fun!
For July, Logan and I spent most of it apart! He was in an intense training course in which we couldn't talk for 3.5 weeks-talk about tough! I spent my time working, working out, spending time with the animals, and making new friends! By the time he came home I had made several new friends which made him happy and me too!
August was nice here...humid, but not overly hot! We adjusted to being back together nicely and both of us just pretty much worked! We were getting all geared up for our trip back to Colorado for the official family/friends wedding!
September was a month of fun events, but tiring! We were married for the second time in a lovely ceremony that was put together by my aunt Marie (Rere). We have a lovely wedding night followed by a couples massage the next morning! We enjoyed spending time with the families this month!
October was Logan's birthday month in which we once again weren't together again ha ha...he was on a training trip and I was home here in Tennessee! After last month, we were pretty ready to take a break from all the running constantly!
November we were together for Thanksgiving that we spent with friends in Kentucky! We also went to Nashville that weekend to visit the ICE display at Opryland! We ate at our usual melting pot for an early anniversary celebration for January! We did Christmas this same weekend also-can you tell we were fitting several events into one weekend...
December was a drawn out month that took too long to pass! I am grateful that I was able to go home to Colorado to spend Christmas with my family and Logan's. It was so nice not to have to spend it alone here in Tennessee!
With that said-Happy New Year! It is finally 2010! I hope this year brings many more wonderful things to our little family! I start school this January and Logan will continue to train with his company! I hope that we will be able to spend most of the year together if Logan's job doesn't call him away...if it does, I pray that he will be kept safe so he will always able to come back to his family that is waiting for him =).
So Happy New Year to all of our blog readers. We hope that this year brings you many good things and you accomplish everything you set out to do!

Merry Christmas from Colorado and from a land far far away!
Merry Christmas to all our blog readers from Colorado and from Logan in a land far far away from home! Oh the animals at home in Tennessee say Merry Christmas as well!
This past week has gone by rather quickly and slowly all at the same time. Days seem to pass quickly through the week but the hours in the day itself seem to drag by on occasion!
I am here in Colorado spending the week with my family and Logan's! So far I have completed 3 puzzles-2 1000 piece puzzles and 1 300 piece puzzle with my Mom and Rere. They tell me I have OCD since I can't seem to stop until I finish the puzzles! I have done some shopping, which after today I have several gift cards I can also use, so I will have to do some more shopping! I went to a work out class with Annie which killed me but I would definietly love to go back! Just goes to show how out of shape I really am! I can't wait to start school since I will get to use my student ID to get me into the gym at APSU and their free aerobics classes! Can't wait to start doing yoga again. I also had a lovely lunch with Logan's Mama and my family as well!
It has snowed a bit here in Colorado-I think about 8 inches, so its a lovely white Christmas here.
Christmas morning started off with a phone call from Logan which is a nice way to wake up! I talked to him for a few minutes and just made sure he was having as good of a Christmas as he could possibly have while being deployed and away from family! He wateched my Christmas video I sent him and they bbq'd for Christmas eve dinner. He said they tried to feed him a nice Christmas Day dinner-however the pork and stuffing he said was just ok! He received several USO boxes and some from churches in which he took the candy and tried to take a cup of noodles! He tried to hide the cup of noodles for later but someone found it before he got back to it! If I had known the food was so bad I would have sent him a box full of food for the remainder of his trip! I know he misses being able to be home with all of us in Colorado but he is there for an important job, so even though he is not here physically he is here in thought! I love you Logan, thank you for all that you do!! =)
As for the rest of the day-we have already opened all of our gifts here at my parents. We are going to be eating the traditional ham and scalloped potato dinner around 2 pm, and then I will head off to Logan's families house to visit with his parents for a while! Hopefully the rest of the family is still there also so I get to see them for a short bit!
I had back to Tennessee on Monday! I will have to grab Rusty early Tuesday morning and then its back to work! I am looking forward to getting back since that means I am one week closer to Logan getting home!
Ok off to ready!
Merry Christmas.
Love,
Nicki and Logan

Bad bad week...

Here lies my poor poor car! This was a very bad week. For those of you who don't know-I was in an accident on Thursday afternoon. I rear-ended a big ford truck. This is what happens when you run into something 3 times the size of your car and with a very large trailer hitch. The jeep had to be towed and then was taken to the Jeep dealership. They should be calling early next week with an estimate on how much it costs to fix. We will have to pay $1000 to the dealership but then our insurance will cover the rest.
My lovely friend Alena was nice enough to call Logan's work and they got a hold of him...however somewhere the part that I was mostly ok was lost in translation which ended up with having poor Logan frantic that I was not ok! This is like people's worst fear when they are gone and having something happen to their spouse! Hopefully something like this never happens again...
I had to go to the ER today, Friday. What a surprise-I can't go more than a month without putting some type of drug in my body...I have a severe case of whiplash which they tell me is just going to get worse. They said after 5-7 days they said eventually it will start feeling better-which puts us right at Christmas, what horrible timing for this!So I am on muscle relaxers and pain medicine. After tomorrow I should be able to take it more regularly. I have to work tomorrow-or more or less sit in the chair and not jerk my head around!
SO lets hope that this next week at home goes better....
