House update-Week ??

So things are FINALLY coming together on our house.

Last Monday we had our pre-construction meeting! They told us they would start construction on the house in about 2 weeks! So of course when we are in Colorado. They promised to take pictures and text them to us since we won't be around to take pictures! We met the two project managers, Zach and Josh.  They are incharge of all the homes in the neighborhood so we will be in contact with them alot.  They were pretty awesome and said they liked us and we woudl get an extra special house ha ha...a housing joke, who would have thought.  Let's hope we do get an extra special house! We went over all our selections and got to ask a million little questions.  We did have some bad news about the yard and where they can sod, but we are told they are working with the county in order to get sod all the way back to the property line in the backyard.   I am so excited it is finally getting started.  So it turns out the house will actually be ready in October which is WAY too early for us.  So we are currently battling to get a closing date that will allow us to not double pay a mortgage and rent! No one wants to do that as we so awfully remember from last summer.

After our pre-construction meeting we were able to walk through the almost finished Palermo on the street. It is about 5 houses up from ours. It is the opposite floor layout of ours, but we got to see a bonus room! Logan fell in love which was what I was hoping for! He is already imagining layouts and where to put the projector and put his visions for chairs/couches...he must think we are made of money =).

We don't have a closet in our room so this will just be a flat wall.

The other important house thing that happened this week was we finally locked on our mortgage rate.  We still aren't pleased with how this worked out, but we finally decided to lock at a rate that we knew we could afford and not risk the rates going higher if we chose to wait to lock at 60 days instead of 150 days like we did.  Our current rate lock will take us to early December which should be more than enough time to close.  If rates are much lower after the beginning of the year we may consider refinancing to lower our payment if that makes sense.  This whole part of house building has been stressful, but at least we know what our payment will be now and don't have to worry about it anymore!

Ok-hopefully the next update we will have some pictures of the house!
